I hope that you’ve experienced some “Winks of God” over the past month that have delighted your heart and made you smile!
During July, one of my favourite winks has been a cool breeze in the early mornings. I’m not someone who thrives in hot weather, but this year I made a conscious decision to “surrender” to the heat and humidity when the temperatures climbed higher than I was comfortable with.
Much to my surprise, when I let go of my resistance, I found that I managed to cope a lot better with the heat. When I actually accepted the discomfort instead of tensing up and feeling negative, I was able to offer “this” up to God and feel in solidarity with other people who were suffering and going through challenges.
It was also interesting to recognize a similar pattern of learning how to “surrender and let go” when life suddenly throws me a curve ball, unexpected shocks occur, and it feels like I’m on “auto pilot,” just going through the motions.
We all have such moments in our lives; the times when we look back and know we could never have made it through without God’s grace and strength.
At those times when I feel bewildered and too numb to pray, I turn to favourite Scriptures that I repeat over and over throughout the day and night.
Some of my favourite “Scripture life-savers” are:
“In God who is my strength, I have strength for ALL things!”
Philippians 4:13
“The Lord is close to the broken-hearted; and those who are crushed in Spirit he saves.”
Psalm 34:19
“ALL things work to the good for those who love God, and are called according to his purpose.”
Romans 8:28
“For human beings it is impossible, but…ALL things are possible for God.”
Mark 10:27
May we continue to keep our eyes and hearts open to God’s presence in our lives, and be grateful for the blessings of this summer season!
